Looked out the dining room window and saw this visitor making his way across the driveway. He made his way into the shrubs in the front of the house where I lost sight of him. Haven't had time to look up his identity, but he seemed friendly. (Famous last words.)

Awesome! I think you are the proud neighbor of an Eastern King Snakes. They are great to have around. They eat rodents birds but most importantly other snakes including venomous snakes. Thanks for posting. That is so cool.

Hey there, my friend...
ReplyDeleteYour photos brought back so many childhood memories. My siblings and neighborhood friends use to go adventuring, about a block from home, through the tall weeds that grew along the cliffs above the ocean. Our main goal was to hunt for your guy's cousins, Western King Snakes, along with blue belly lizards...we'd box them up as pets (smile). Having learned, from a summer wilderness survival program, that these snakes are harmless, they became a favorite bit of ornamentation, coiled up my arm (sometimes around my neck!). It's also nice to remember, after a day or two, we always set them free.
Thanks for the memories! Blessings, Priscilla
