Look What's Coming

My, oh my -- hi-def video is coming to the web (and to blogs). My friend, Paul Stack, pointed me to this sample hi-def video shot with a $600 Canon hand-held hi-def video camera. The quality between this and the YouTube video down below is obvious. The only problem is that many computers don't have the horsepower to play these hi-def videos smoothly -- my computer barely does.

Vegan Soul Kitchen

Vegan Soul Kitchen is a new vegan cookbook by Bryant Terry based primarily on African-American culture. See the write-up here. Alice Waters (founder of Chez Panisse in Berkeley, CA) says, "Bryant Terry knows that good food should be an everyday right and not a privilege. This book is full of easy, tasty, seasonal recipes that also happen to be vegan and affordable!" It's available for pre-order at Amazon.

Stay Current, Be Entertained

David Pogue is the technology columnist for The New York Times -- funny, smart, and creative (and multi-talented). He creates a weekly video tech update for MSNBC that is available as a free weekly podcast. All you have to do to sign up is open iTunes, then go to this link which takes you to the iTunes podcast "store." In the top part of the window click on "Subscribe" and you're done. You'll receive Pogue's weekly tech video -- you just have to open iTunes to watch it, or catch up on back issues if you get behind. It's an entertaining way to keep up with new tech developments weekly.

Here's a sample of the video he did when the new 3G iPhone came out last year:

And you can go to the Times website to view the most recent one where he explains Twitter -- just posted today.
